The Botanical Garden of "Pania di Corfino" is 20 km far from Mont'Alfonso Fortress. Founded in 1984 by the Mountain Community of Garfagnana, the Garden is located in a large clearing in the beech forest, on the southern slope of Pania di Corfino, at 1370 meters above sea level in the Natural Park of Orecchiella.
Among grown species, there are rare and endangered plants and the natural flora of the Lucchese Apennine used in traditional folk medicine and in the diet of Upper Garfagnana people.
