Park of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines

Fifteen kilometres far from the Fortress of Mont'Alfonso, you enter to the Park of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, a wide area that stretches between the Cisa and Forbici passes. Here the forest ridges separating Tuscany from Emilia give way to a real mountain environment, the peaks are over 2000 metres, the forests give way to rocks, lakes and high altitude meadows.
The National Park of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines is proud of an extraordinary environmental wealth, from grasslands to blueberry moors to the steepest peaks; and still lakes, waterfalls, ponds, rock walls that stand overlooking the creeks; animals such as the wolf, mouflon, deer, golden eagle and rare botanical species making whole areas a real botanical natural garden.
